val·ue ˈvalyo͞o/ the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

My eyes have been opened lately to the truth of value. Rather, the realization that what I truly value is largely reflected by how i spend my time. And to be honest, I’ve been pretty disgusted with the reflection i’ve seen. If you were to ask me what i value, I’d give you a great list; My family, my relationship with the Lord, my home, my business, caring for people, traveling, reading, and all sorts of endeavors that are well meaning and honest. But in reality, so much of my time spent is wasted on blown up self-contemplation, easy entertainment, and grieving over unattainable bohemian bungalow homes on instagram.

Slowly over the years, I’ve allowed social media jealousy, and white wall comparison to creep into every aspect of my life.

Seriously, since when is it natural to know what hundreds of people you barely know are doing in their day within a matter of minutes? And why are those click bait articles so appealing? And why is it so hard to let go of something I repeatedly say I despise? I’m looking at you, facebook.

All that being said, in an attempt to start making changes in my life to align my time with the values I strive to hold and cultivate, I plan to trade my Facebook time in for time to rekindle my love of writing. Through this journal, I hope to share the values behind my brand, document projects, and give you a glimpse into my life as a creative business owner, wanna-be minimalist and homesteading wife.

Here’s to discovering the value of now.
